The Power of Essential Oils + $20 Deep House Cleaning Coupon

Many people have talked about the merits of aromatherapy, where the mere scent of certain things can contribute to achieving a desired emotion or mood. While aromatherapy may not have any proven medical purpose (and some may disagree with that), the oils used for generating various scents can be powerful natural aides for certain ailments. These oils, called essential oils, are derived from plants via a distillation process. They are called ‘essential’ not because they are critical or necessary but rather because they contain the essence (or “quintessential”) component of a plant. I have provided some of the more popular oils and what they can be used for below. Many essential oils can be used for aromatherapy but are also useful by themselves as part of tinctures or topical treatments.

  • Lavender Oil – One of the most popular oils, the scent is absolutely amazing. Lavender oil relaxes the mind the body and also reduces swelling in the body.
  • Sandalwood Oil – This scent is very popular in Asian countries. It is calm, soothing, and quite beneficial for healthy hair.
  • Bergamot – This oil has a very unique scent that is citus in nature. It can be used for acne as well as treating spots on the skin. It has more energizing effects than other oils. The popular English tea Earl Grey has bergamot, giving the tea a distinct aroma.
  • Eucalyptus – This is one of the hidden secrets of natural therapy. It has a very strong scent which means it will awaken the senses and help to drive concentration. This oil is excellent for treating rashes, bug bites, itchiness, and is very useful in treating cold symptoms. In fact, the strong scent really relieves congestion in the night helps children go to bed without the need for over the counter medication. Simply boil some water and then add a few drops of eucalyptus essential oil and then put your head over the water and breathe in – be sure to put a towel over your head and the bowl to capture the steam. Using too much oil will really make the vapors too strong – a few drops is enough to clear mucus and congestion. Highly recommended essential oil.
  • Tea Tree – Also known as melaleuca, this oil is very popular as an anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, and anti-viral agent. It works well for treating oily skin as well as for acne. In addition, it can be used to used to treat minor scrapes and wounds. Like eucalyptus, it can be also be used for decongestion.

There are plenty of places to buy essential oils. I recommended looking online as brick-and-mortar stores charge way too much. Only a little bit is needed so don’t be shocked by what may seem like high prices for small vials. After you have wrapped up your chores for the day or week or perhaps after you have had a professional house cleaning, consider using these essential oils for aromatherapy and see for yourself if the overall experience contributes to a more relaxed mindset. We will discuss the benefits of aromatherapy in another blog post.
