6 Steps for a Stress Free Pre-Party Cleanup

Having guests at home can be a mixed bag of emotions. On the one hand, you’re excited to host guests at home and have a good time, but on the other hand, preparing your house to receive them can be rather stressful. Of course, don’t forget about the after-party cleanup. Those bathrooms need to be disinfected and linens need to be washed.

However, following these six simple steps can help you get your house ready for your gathering without going nuts.

Step #1 – De-clutter high-traffic areas

Focus mainly on the areas where your guests will be and remove all items that don’t belong in the area. This will empty the areas from any clutter and leave space for your guests to sit comfortably.

Step #2 – Dust off surfaces

After removing clutter from the major areas, focus on dusting off the major surfaces such as coffee tables, shelves, side tables, and electronics.

Step #3 – Vacuum

Vacuum all visible carpets and sofas in which your guests will be. Make sure to also vacuum corners and even the walls of your home. This will remove dust and spider webs if there are any.

Step #4 – Clean carpets

Sometimes vacuuming all carpets and sofas is not enough to make them look clean. If you have some spots on your upholstery or on your carpets, make sure you hire professional cleaning services, otherwise, you will run the risk of damaging the fabrics by trying to do it yourself. Remember, if you do hire a professional upholstery cleaning service, it can take some time for the sofas and/or carpets to dry.

Step#5 – Wash your dishes

Put all dirty dishes in the washer and run a cycle. After the dishwasher is done, you can either leave them there or arrange them in their place but don’t leave them visible to guests as it will look disorganized and cluttered.

Step #6 – Dim the lights & put some music

Before your guests arrive, turn off the ceiling lights and turn on the lamps to create a more comfortable atmosphere. You can also light up some scented candles to give a nice smell and put on some music at low volume.
Cleaning your house to receive guests can be time-consuming. If you want to have your house ready for guests without feeling overworked, give us a call. We can set you up with professional house cleaners who will adjust their services to your specific needs.
