5 Tips for Fall Cleaning that will help you in the Holidays!

Spring cleaning is a ritual in many households.  After being confined within our four walls for months, it’s clearly in order.  Fall cleaning should be just as popular as Spring cleaning. Beginning our long Winter captivity in a fresh, de-cluttered space makes our time indoors tolerable for longer.

These five important autumn chores will help get you prepared for winter and save you from having to play catch up during those short winter weekends when there never seems to be enough time or energy to get things done before it gets dark outside.

1. Winterize your beds.

Pull out all of your heavier winter blankets and give them a solid wash to make them feel like new. Flip or rotate your mattress (you should be doing this every three months).  Tuck your kids into a warm, cozy and clean winter bed..

2. Store your summer clothes & accessories.

It’s time to clear out some space so you have a place to keep your warm winter clothes, hats, gloves and coats. Stash away your bathing suits, beach towels, pool accessories, etc. — basically, anything you won’t be using once the weather changes. Wash and dry any clothes and linens before you store them, and make sure to label any storage containers so you can easily find your summer goods when you need to next year.

3. Perform a pantry audit.

First, remove all the cans and boxes from the shelves, and vacuum away any lingering dust or crumbs (a lot can build up in just a few months!). Then, inspect each item before putting it back in its place, tossing anything that is expired or past its prime.

4. Deep clean the kitchen.

Fall means the holidays will be here before we know it, and holidays often bring guests. Deep clean all of your appliances – refrigerator, oven, and dishwasher. Organize your cabinets and drawers to make sure you can easily find what you need.

5. Shampoo your carpet.

Get a jump on holiday party season by giving your carpeting a good scrub. We recommend getting a professional cleaning once a year. This will ensure that your living room is ready for all those Holiday Parties!

However, if you really want to get good results and spend more time preparing for the holidays, you should definitely consider hiring professional maids to help you clean your house on a regular basis.
