Autumn Recipes: Pear Cobbler With Autumn Spices
Autumn is a great time to have some fun in the kitchen, it’s excellent to try out new recipes that make you feel warm and comforting. On this occasion, we present you a recipe where you can test your cooking abilities and enjoy the warm feeling spices, a pear cobbler with allspice.
Here is what you’ll need for the filling:
- 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter
- ¾ cup granulated sugar (can be brown, coconut, date, or any other of your preference)
- ¼ all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 4 pears, peeled and chopped
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- ¼ teaspoon salt
You will need these ingredients for the topping:
- 1 ½ cups of all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup of milk
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- A pinch of salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon ground cardamom
- ¼ teaspoon ground allspice (nutmeg, cinnamon, clove)
- ⅛ teaspoon ground nutmeg
To make the filling you have to first melt the unsalted butter in a pan over medium heat (be careful not to burn it), add the diced pears and the rest of the ingredients, except the vanilla. Stir until the pears are uniformly mixed. Continue cooking until the sugar has dissolved and the mixture is a bit watery. Let the mixture create bubbles until it thickens a little bit. Remove from the fire, add the vanilla, and stir to mix it.
For the topping combine all the dry ingredients in a bowl, the flour, brown sugar, baking powder, cardamom, ginger, salt, nutmeg, and allspice. Add the butter and mix with your fingers until everything blends in together nicely. Add the milk until the dough comes together.
Preheat the oven to 350 F, and add the filling to a baking dish. Pour the dough on top of the filling with a tablespoon and bake for 35 minutes or until the topping is brown.
