Beyond the Basics: A Top-to-Bottom Cleaning in Less Than One Day!

Every year, the time comes when you have to embark on that painful but worthy spring house cleaning. With Spring just around the corner, it’s a great idea to start planning to make that day as painless as possible. Remember, if your schedule prevents you from doing the cleaning yourself, do not hesitate to call us for a free estimate.

At Weekend Maids, we have come up with a list of suggested steps that you can follow to ensure that every corner of your house is completely spotless in less than a day. Yes, it takes time and effort to clean a home properly. We hope you like them:

Bedrooms – 2 hours

Step #1 – Dust off walls

Dust off the walls in all rooms and, if you can, dust off ceilings as well. If you do this every year it will be easier to keep them clean year round. You can use a microfiber cloth or even a vacuum for this. Afterwards, wipe them with the all-purpose cleaner of your preference.

Step #2 – Wash all linens

Remove all sheets, quilts, and pillowcases from your bed and wash them. While they’re in the washer, open up the windows in your room and let in fresh air. Leave your mattress uncovered to reduce the amount of allergens in it.

Step #3 – Clean windows and mirrors

While you let your house air, you can clean windows and mirrors first, removing all dust with a vacuum and then wiping them up with a clean cloth and a window cleaner.

Step #4 – Rinse the floors

Depending on the type of flooring you have you will require different techniques to clean them. To make it faster, you can vacuum your floors first and then wipe them with a microfiber cloth to reach the corners and then mop them with a floor cleaner.

Bathrooms – 2 hours

Step # 1 – Wash shower & bathtub

To speed up the process of cleaning the shower, buy a no-scrub foaming spray and apply it before you start cleaning the rest of the bathroom.

Step #2 – Vacuum walls

Repeat the same procedure as you did with the bedroom walls, however, to make it faster you can use your vacuum to clean all the dust in the walls and then wipe them with an all-purpose cleaner.

Step #3 – Wash mirrors

Use a clean microfiber cloth to wash all mirrors in your bathroom and dry them out with some newspaper, that way you recycle and leave your mirrors spotless.

Step #4 – Wash all rugs and clean the floor

Throw all rugs into the washer and while they’re being washed clean your bathroom floors. First, broom them and then mop them with your favorite all-purpose cleaner.

Kitchen – 2:30 hours

Step #1 – De-grease stove & cooking appliances

To de-grease your stove and cooking appliances, mix in a spray bottle 2 cups of warm water, 1 tablespoon of baking soda, and 20 drops of lemon juice or lemon essential oil and spray on the appliances you want to clean, let it work for 10 minutes and then wipe with a clean cloth.

Step #2 – Clean the fridge

While you wait for the cooking appliances to de-grease you can move on to the fridge. First start by emptying it. Once empty, wipe all shelves and cabinets with a mixture of a cup of hot water and five tablespoons of baking soda. Afterwards, rinse them dry and continue cleaning the door seals.

Step #3 – Clean surfaces and cabinets

To clean the cabinets of your kitchen and all surfaces use a mixture of water and dishwashing soap, which will clean all stains on kitchen surfaces and will also remove the grease from your cabinets.

Step #4 – Broom and mop floors

Finally, broom and mop floors. Remember that you can always use the vacuum to help you reach the corners.

We hope this guide was helpful, however, remember that hiring professional house cleaning services will always give better results.
